I heard that rumor too! I guess you're right and it's just a rumor after all, but it still made me watch the movie again (: My god, it was scary, I guess I've grown too old for scary movies...I actually heard that it was one of the extras who spread the rumor, and that there was some sort of legal threat that got settled.

I think someone from the production spread the word that Friday the 13'th is a true movie, so the movie would get more buzz. I don't know what sort of commercial insurance do they have, but i imagine it's a good one, because no one tried to sue for this rumor.
